Along Came Content 2.0

I was a very happy online business owner. How could I not be happy, I had chosen to build my business with SBI! Starting out with zero knowledge about both the web and business, SBI gave me a good education in both areas and the tools to do the job. I am not the world's fastest learner, but that has not mattered as my business has steadily grown year on year.

Then along came content2 (C2)

And now, I am more than happy - - I'm jubilant!

Thinking back, I'm sure that I did not at first understand the full power and potential of C2. “Yes that's nice.” I thought. “A way for visitors to add their own content.” SBI provides a first class tutorial explaining many ways to make good use of this function, and SBI'ers are not slow in sharing their ideas in the SBI forums.

Before too long I had implemented C2 on a couple of pages of my site. Okay, a little slow at first. But with a little encouragement and a few tweaks the visitor submissions started coming in. A welcome surprise was the quality of some of those submissions. There are folks out there with amazing stories to tell, and C2 gives them the opportunity to do so. Of course, not all submissions are five star, but all have a human feel because they are real stories, by real people.

Who would think that a page about a site visitor's cat giving birth to three little kittens would bring in traffic from the search engines, but it does. And, as they say, that's not all. All those visitor pages pointing back to the page with the submission form helps to raise that page's search engine ranking too, a nice bonus :0)

There are still many ways that I can use C2 to assist my business that I have not even tried - - yet. However I do not let C2 do all the work for me, I still add my own content to my site. With all the tools that SBI already had and now C2, what more could I wish for?

There is something else which I think is another great advantage of allowing visitors to submit their own pages - it tells me an awful lot about my visitors. And that knowledge helps me tremendously when I create my own content.
