Ask the Expert With C2 - A Real Winner

I think one of the easiest tools from SBI to utilize is C2. It is set up for all people to participate now even newbies. It can be a real "site saver" for those whose writing skills are not optimum or who are a bit timid about writing.

One of the least promoted or talked about "secrets" on the internet is using your audience to create your content for you. Everyone talks about traffic traffic and more traffic. Why aren't we calling them our audience? That is what they really are.

I took the plunge with C2 around Feb 09. My first invite for my headache site was "post your own picture" of what you might think your headache or pain looks like. Guess I should have realized that people in a lot of pain could care less about drawing unless they already are artists. Absolutely no submissions.

OK... scratch that after about a month.

Next effort was to have an invite to post answers or comments about the Headache Adviser Blog. Wow. What a winner that was. I got 4 comments and two of them were advertisements for other sites, asking me to buy their product. To date I still have only 2 submissions there.

Then it hit me. (Like a V8 moment, smack on the forehead!) I AM an expert in my field! People ask me questions all day long about headaches and I give them answers and advice. So why not do that through C2? Ta-da!! "Ask The Expert" was born.

I had 4 submissions the first week, and have averaged 2-3 per week since. Like everything else I had a bit of a learning curve, but I discovered that I could change the title of the submission to a valuable keyword and then sprinkle in more keywords and links in my response. The beauty of this is that even if I have already written a page with that keyword, SBI justs adds a number to the end of the keyword and Google sees it as a new page. As of this writing I have over 100 submissions (or new pages!) since Ask The Expert went live about 6-7 months ago. It takes me about 10 minutes to answer each one, far shorter time than writing and organizing a whole new page.

Two of my C2 pages are now among the top 30 pages that visitors enter to my site, and the invite page is #27 (according to Google Analytics).

I was monetizing with Adsense, but recent took an idea from someone else in the SBI forums about affiliates on C2. It is only been a few days but I am asking people to fill out a health insurance quote as a way to support "Ask The Expert."

Really this could be done on anyone's site. That is what SBI is all about... each person has a passion for a site and they really are the "experts" about the subject. I plan to set up the same C2 invite on my second site (as soon as the new 3 column templates are available!).

"Motivation" means they want to build a business and take control of their lives enough to sacrifice some leisure activities.
