Books Need Illustrations

I have a number of Content 2.0 invitations up on my two book sites, Best Children's Books and The Shared Self Publishing Experience. On each site, the C2 invitation that's taken on a life of its own is the one where I invite book illustrators wanting to be seen by book authors and book publishers.

I didn't see it coming, but in retrospect it makes sense.

Book illustrators are a freelance bunch, always looking for places to display their wares. With C2, I give them a free place to post an illustration from their portfolio and to write about their talents. I also promise them a link to the online portfolio of their choice.

It seems to be an irresistible combination, and it brings me a lot of traffic. Visitors shopping for illustrators look at one listing after another after another. Some very appreciative illustrators have done me some nice favors as well! One treated me to a logo that I now use for my Facebook page.

Speaking of Facebook...

One illustrator recently suggested that I start that Facebook page. Her logic was that when illustrators "Fan" me, that'll open up their portfolios to my visitors when they link to the illustrator's Facebook portfolio. I'm still not sure I even understand what's going on (!) but in the first 24 hours of my Facebook page's existence I had over 40 fans sign up, and most of them seem to be illustrators. So now I'm getting traffic from Facebook, thanks to C2. Nice synergy!

Visitors Do Freely Contribute
by: Jan

Yes William, it seems hard to believe, but people do freely contribute.

Some people on the Web believe they must spark controversy or get people fighting in order to generate interest and compel people to interact on their site. But many Content 2.0 owners have found that that is often one of the worst ways to do so.

People who are interested in your niche, who share the same passion, love to talk about their favorite subject. They love how their words become a permanent part of your Internet real estate and like to make their mark.

The Internet is all about making friends all over the world and Content 2.0 is another way to do that.

Friendly, constructive interaction is loved and appreciated by all. It's like attracting bees with honey.

Do they really freely contribute?

Wow, reading your story gives me lots of ideas. But seriously, do people really freely contribute their work like that?

Important Disclosure

This site was started by (creator of SBI!) to showcase Content 2.0.

The vast majority of pages on this site are from submissions by real SBI! owners who want to share their stories with you.

They receive no compensation of any kind from Their stories are true.

Feel free to interact with any of them with your questions or comments. Use the Comments section at the end of each story.

You will notice a common thread here... These people simply do it. They have "BAM"...

Brain (knowledge of something) Attitude (positive) Motivation" (willing to work).

BAM is the key ingredient that you must add to SBI!. To elaborate...

"Brain" does not mean "brainy." It means they have, or have developed, knowledge in a niche (perhaps from a hobby, job, other life experience).

"Attitude" means they are positive, optimistic people who work well with others (this is why the SBI! Forums are unmatched in the small e-business world).

"Motivation" means they want to build a business and take control of their lives enough to sacrifice some leisure activities.

We point this out because we do not want to falsely raise your expectations. SBI! does not deliver "automatic success." Nothing can.

Your degree of success depends on your own level of "BAM," upon how much time you devote to building your Web business, and upon following the process correctly (every successful SBIer will tell you, "Follow the Action Guide").

SBI! does deliver what it promises... your best chance at e-business success. SBI! works... if you work it.
