I'm building a service similar to Yahoo! Answers with Content 2.0

by Timothy

I've started using Content 2.0 as a service similar to the Yahoo Answers (see "Ask The Parents" section on my site). Basically, the idea was to get visitors to ask a question and then having others to answer it - although I have to admit that when I first started, I did answer some of the questions myself. But things have since snowballed and I have "fans" who answer the questions on a voluntary basis! This creates a constant flow of content for my site.

Where am I taking C2 to the next level?

This is something I am now experimenting with and it seems very promising. I am planning to use C2 for affiliate marketing purposes.

How am I doing it?

I've created a product review section for my C2 pages. The idea is to put related affiliate products and have others comment (I prefer to have comments on the same page as the original submission so that my page can be beefed up with added comments subsequently). C2 then acts as a content management system for all my affiliate products.

I don't like to write reviews about products by myself and find C2 a perfect fit for such a model. I can simply put the facts about a particular product (with embedded links) and have others tell me their opinion. As an example, try searching Google.com for "hooked on phonics master reader deluxe edition" and the page http://www.child-central.com/hooked-on-phonics-master-reader.html, is in the top 10.

How do my C2 pages work for the search engines?

Keyword research is key. After researching a product which has a demand, simply put the "product name + long tail description" into the Title field on my C2 submission page. I usually target key phrases with low competition and with demand (you can do that with allintitle: key phrase).

I love to share my success stories and can't really imagine how I had this much success without C2.

Content 2.0 is true Web 2.0 for the small e-business person. Visitors create full Web pages because they want to, because they share your passion. Others comment. Viral spread happens.

Important Disclosure

This site was started by SiteSell.com (creator of SBI!) to showcase Content 2.0.

The vast majority of pages on this site are from submissions by real SBI! owners who want to share their stories with you.

They receive no compensation of any kind from SiteSell.com. Their stories are true.

Feel free to interact with any of them with your questions or comments. Use the Comments section at the end of each story.

You will notice a common thread here... These people simply do it. They have "BAM"...

Brain (knowledge of something) Attitude (positive) Motivation" (willing to work).

BAM is the key ingredient that you must add to SBI!. To elaborate...

"Brain" does not mean "brainy." It means they have, or have developed, knowledge in a niche (perhaps from a hobby, job, other life experience).

"Attitude" means they are positive, optimistic people who work well with others (this is why the SBI! Forums are unmatched in the small e-business world).

"Motivation" means they want to build a business and take control of their lives enough to sacrifice some leisure activities.

We point this out because we do not want to falsely raise your expectations. SBI! does not deliver "automatic success." Nothing can.

Your degree of success depends on your own level of "BAM," upon how much time you devote to building your Web business, and upon following the process correctly (every successful SBIer will tell you, "Follow the Action Guide").

SBI! does deliver what it promises... your best chance at e-business success. SBI! works... if you work it.
