Using Content 2.0 to Ask the Pool Pro

My Ask The Pool Pro section, a part of shadebuilder.com, has been my most successful use of C2. I answer questions about above ground pools. I am one of just a few online experts that write about this topic. So I guess you could say I am an expert.

That section of my site, swimming pools, is very seasonal. I was pleased with well over 300 good solid content pages thanks to C2, in my first season. My visitors ask a question and I answer it. At the same time every page becomes an opportunity to monetize and add links to other pages of my site.

Just recently I have started dividing the questions and my answers with an ad sense block. I use an includes file to do this. At any time my readers ask about a particular product, I can include a photo attached to an affiliate link, or a text link to one of my referral pool stores.

I also try to include on each page links back into my site to related pages. I think that deep linking to my other pages is not only useful to my readers but very good for my site.

I reached my personal goal of over a thousand visitors a day, that lasted a couple of months and got to about 1500. I thought that was pretty cool, and it would never have happened without C2.

I plan to gear up, study up, reorganize and be ready for next summer. Shadebuilder will be seeing over two thousand visitors a day real soon.

I have other C2 pages, over several sites, but nothing has taken off like Ask The Pool Pro yet.

My other C2 pages I want to be truly my reader’s own pages. I think the ones for pool stores and awning companies to tell about their businesses will take off in time.

People are far more prone to take the time to write something if they are getting something in return. Whether it’s an answer to a question, a little free advertising for their business or maybe even a little promo, or “press release” for their green club, like I am doing on one of my other sites, save-money-with-alternative-energy.
